Individualized early childhood support, built around your child.

Supporting Bright Stars

I provide one-on-one early childhood services — meeting each child exactly where they are, and helping them thrive as they develop.

Who I Work With

From first steps to second grade

Nursery
Preschool
Kindergarten
Elementary

Whether your child is just starting out or already in school, services are tailored to where they are today — not a fixed track.

How I Help

Services built around your child

Every plan is designed around a child's unique strengths, needs, and goals — not a one-size-fits-all curriculum.

🧩

SEIT Services

Special Education Itinerant Teacher support for preschoolers, delivered directly in the classroom or childcare setting.

🌟

1:1 Instruction

Individualized, goal-driven sessions tailored to each child's IEP (if applicable) and developmental profile — delivered at home, in school, or in the community.

✏️

Tutoring

Targeted academic support in reading, writing, and early math, for any child up to second grade in general education, or up to middle school in special education.

My Approach

Growing brighter every day

1

Start with the child

Every plan begins with getting to know a child's strengths, interests, areas of growth, goals, and how they engage best through an observation and conversation with the family.

2

Tailored curriculum

I work with students in both general education and special education, and tailor the curriculum to the needs of the child to best ensure success.

3

Collaboration first

Collaboration is at the heart of my approach — I work closely with parents, caregivers, teachers, and related service providers (including speech specialists, OT, PT, behavioral therapists, pediatricians, psychologists, and more) to ensure everyone is aligned in supporting each child's growth.

4

Progress over perfection

Upon determining your child's growth opportunities, we set tangible and measurable goals and track progress over time — and we celebrate all successes along the way to boost confidence and happiness.

Sydney, founder of SBS Academic Services
Meet your child's provider

Hi, I'm Sydney

I'm the founder of SBS Academic Services. I earned my bachelor's degree from NYU in 2021 and went on to complete my master's degree in Early Childhood Special Education and Early Childhood Education as part of my training through Teach For America. Since then, I've had the privilege of working with young children across a variety of settings, including public and private schools, community-based programs, camp, and in-home, supporting children with a wide range of learning styles and developmental needs.

I believe every child has unique strengths and the ability to thrive when provided with individualized, engaging, and compassionate support. My approach is rooted in building meaningful relationships with children and their families, celebrating every milestone, and collaborating closely with parents, caregivers, and related service providers to create consistent, purposeful progress.

Outside of my work as an educator, I am passionate about supporting children and families battling childhood cancer. For the past five years, I have served on the New York City board of the Andrew McDonough B+ Foundation, which helps provide financial aid and emotional support to families who have a child battling cancer.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

"We had the privilege of working with Sydney as our son's SEIT for over two years, from ages 3 to 5, and cannot recommend her highly enough. She supported him through behavioral, social-emotional, and academic developmental delays, and the progress he made under her care was remarkable.

Sydney struck the perfect balance; kind but firm, with clear boundaries and genuine empathy whenever he needed it. She knew exactly when to step in and when to step back, deliberately building his independence over time. By the end, he was fully independent in the classroom and no longer needed her support (bittersweet for us, since we loved working with her, but the best possible outcome for him).

She communicated with us regularly, was always open to feedback, and worked seamlessly with teachers and school staff. Wise beyond her years and skilled with all kinds of kids, she's simply an exceptional educator."

"We had the pleasure of working with Sydney when she supported our daughter in her pre-K classroom. Sydney built a wonderful relationship with our daughter while maintaining excellent communication with us, her classroom teachers, and her speech therapist. She worked collaboratively to ensure successful strategies were carried over across settings, creating consistency that helped support our daughter's growth.

What impressed us most was Sydney's positive, strengths-based approach. She celebrated every milestone and created an environment where our daughter felt supported, capable, and excited to learn.

Sydney is compassionate, thoughtful, and deeply committed to the children and families she works with. We are incredibly grateful for the impact she had on our daughter."
